I felt blessed to find this piece on my feed as I feel like I've been faced with a barrage of perimenopause content online lately. I understand this may be useful for women in the thick of it, but as a 35-year-old with no signs of it yet, it just feels like an extra thing to worry about (or be sold products for).
“but I’m not inviting him over before our appointment”
EXACTLY.
I also feel this way about people who bemoan getting older in general and those who assume I am as decrepit as they are. Stop talking these things into existence!
wow, you crawled into my mind and pulled out every damn thought!!! There is a space where we are too informed, and I think we've reached it. I have to work hard daily to remind myself my aches and pains or career apathy might just be that and not always attributed to Peri-bloody-menopause.
I say that with the upmost respect that one day it will fully hit though!
Every fucking thing on this planet has to somehow be monetised, and perimenopause/menopause is ALL the rage at the moment, and it drives me up the wall. STOP MARKETING MY BODY TO ME!!!
Your body does change quite a bit after 40 - there's been a fair amount of research into this (or is starting to be, anyway - here's a starter: https://archive.ph/ePrQU ) but people are so desperate for labels that we're actually buying into Big Menopause in ways that I find really off-putting and upsetting. It's the new "I'm neurodivergent" (which is still Hot rather than Not) and while it's not for me to tell people who to identify with their own health changes/how to feel less alone, the whole thing is just really obnoxious.

I’m so glad it resonated 🫶🏻

And leave me out of it!!
Speaking from the perspective of been there AND done that, no sense in labeling it. How ‘bout we call it living.
Yes! We don’t have to call everything something 😤
